OSWEGO COUNTY – Get ahead and start planning for your summer now! For those looking for a fun, rewarding job, the Oswego AmeriCorps is hiring a summer youth program educator to work at a variety of sites around the county.
The summer youth program educator is a 300-hour contract position. The candidate will work for six to 10 weeks, beginning in June or July and continuing through August. Job locations include Camp Hollis, Camp Zerbe, Camp Foundations, Legends Fields, Dream Courts, the Oswego Bookmobile, Catholic Charities of Oswego County and the Town of Schroeppel Summer Recreation.
Job responsibilities include youth fitness and nutrition education, youth mentoring and child safety. The summer youth program educator will design and deliver engaging fitness and nutrition sessions for youth participants, serve as a mentor by providing guidance, encouragement, and support, and ensure the safety and well-being of children attending the program by implementing safety protocols and responding to emergencies effectively.
The summer youth program educator receives a total living wage of $4,661, and upon successful completion of the contract, will receive an education award of $1,565.08.
To be eligible for an AmeriCorps position, applicants must be 17 years of age or older and have – or be working toward – a high school diploma or GED. Other required qualifications for the position include a passion for working with youth and promoting their holistic development, strong communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to adapt to a dynamic and fast-paced environment, and prior experience in fitness, nutrition or youth education.
