OSWEGO COUNTY – Oswego County STOP-DWI Coordinator David Hall announced that police agencies and STOP-DWI coordinators across the state will join forces to raise awareness about the dangers of impaired driving and provide additional law enforcement patrols throughout the month of June.
The “High Visibility Engagement Campaigns” will focus on the “100 Days of Summer” with particular emphasis on the following dates in June:
- Thursday, June 4 through Sunday, June 7
- Thursday, June 11 through Sunday, June 14
- Thursday, June 18 through Sunday, June 21
- Thursday, June 25 through Sunday, June 28
“Summer is a great time for people to get out and enjoy the sunshine and fun events,” said Hall. “It’s also a time when alcohol-related injuries and deaths are on the rise.
“For those planning to consume alcohol or any other mind-altering substance, I urge you to have a plan to get home before you start,” he continued. “Designate a driver, call a taxi or a rideshare service, or walk – just don’t drive.”
Impaired driving is completely preventable by having a sober plan. Simply download the ‘Have a Plan’ mobile app at www.stopdwi.org/mobileapp for a safe ride home.
This joint campaign is just one of the many statewide initiatives promoted by STOP-DWI New York and the Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee to reduce the incidence of drunk and impaired driving, prevent injuries and save lives. High Visibility Engagement Campaigns also target the end of summer and Labor Day, Halloween, Thanksgiving, the December holiday season, Super Bowl, St. Patrick’s Day, 420 Drug Day, Memorial Day and July 4th.
