OSWEGO COUNTY – The Oswego County Veterans’ Services Agency (VSA) announces that satellite hours will no longer be held at the Oswego VA Outpatient Clinic as of Jan. 1, 2025. In the new year, the New York State Department of Veterans’ Services will place a veterans’ services officer (VSO) at the clinic five days a week to help veterans.
“We began offering satellite hours in 2023 with the goal of providing assistance and support to as many veterans as possible,” said Oswego County Veterans’ Services Director Eric Boozer. “We had high demand at the Oswego location and were able to assist many local veterans. Now, with this new position the state Department of Veterans’ Services is placing at the clinic, we’ll discontinue our office’s satellite hours there and focus our attention on providing services in other locations that don’t already have a veterans’ services rep available.
“Our office will work closely with the state VSO and assist them with claims as needed,” he added. “This new VSO position at the Oswego location will help veterans continue getting the assistance and service they need.”
Oswego County VSA will continue to offer satellite office hours in Pulaski on the first and second Thursday of each month from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the H. Douglas Barclay Courthouse, located at 1 Broad St. Veterans can also make appointments Monday through Friday at the VSA’s main office, located at 200 N. Second St. in Fulton.
Oswego County VSA is a county-run department that helps local veterans, their spouses and dependents file for federal benefits and services. Its staff can assist with applications for compensation, pension, survivor pension, medical care, education benefits and VA home loans.
