Schroeppel Historical Society Presents ‘Ladies of the Lake’ May 21

OSWEGO COUNTY – Learn the stories of female mariners and their shipwrecks on Lake Ontario at the Schroeppel Historical Society’s presentation of “Ladies of the Lake” on Tuesday, May 21. The event begins at 7 p.m. at the Schroeppel Historical Society, 486 Main St., Phoenix.

The discussion will be led by sailor, storyteller and former educator Susan P. Gateley. Some of the stories she shares are from her book “Ariadne’s Death: Tales of Heroism and Tragedy on Lake Ontario.”

Gateley will also do a short reading from her latest novel, “Shifting Winds.” Attendees will also be able to purchase her books and have her sign them.

The event is free and open to the public, and refreshments will be provided courtesy of the Schroeppel Historical Society. Donations are greatly appreciated.
