The Total Solar Eclipse will be taking over Oswego

OSWEGO – The Total Solar Eclipse will be taking over Oswego, NY! The weekend of events in the City starts on Saturday, April 6th with Small Business Saturday. Many small businesses in the City of Oswego will be offering special sales and themed promotions geared towards the Total Solar Eclipse.

On Sunday, April 7th there will be a Downtown Eclipse Block Party on West 1st Street from 4:00 p.m. -9:00 p.m. with live music from Mike Shiel from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. and Jess Novak Band from 6:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. In addition to musical entertainment, there will be inflatables, the Extreme Game Truck, laser tag, science activities, facepainting, henna, and more.  Businesses on West 1st Street will provide food options for purchase. Valti Graphics will be at the Visitor’s Center (201 West 1st Street) with eclipse merchandise for purchase.

On Monday, April 8th, there will be an Eclipse Viewing Area at Breitbeck Park from 1:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. with food trucks, vendors, and live music from 3:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. by a Pink Floyd Tribute band “In the Flesh”, sponsored by Harbor Eye. Tom Ciappa will be the MC from 1:00 p.m.- 3:00 p.m.

In partnership with Broadwell Hospitality Group, there will be a shuttle service route on both Sunday for the Block Party and Monday for the two viewing areas: Breitbeck Park and Fort Ontario. On the shuttle route will be a free public parking lot located at 410 West 1st Street (Old Shapiro’s). On Sunday, April 7th stops will include the public parking lot, Best Western Plus and Clarion Hotel and Suites on East 1st Street, and the Downtown Block Party, running from 4:00 p.m.-9:30 p.m. The shuttle services will also run on Monday, April 8th from 1:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. with continuous looping stops to Breitbeck Park, Fort Ontario, Best Western Plus and Clarion Hotel and Suites on East 1st Street, and the public parking lot (410 West 1st Street).

Eclipse Viewing Glasses will also be distributed to the public in the days leading up to the Eclipse, while supplies last. There will be a limit of 4 glasses per person.  The distribution schedule is as follows:

Thursday, April 4th at the Oswego Visitor’s Center (201 West 1st Street) from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Friday, April 5th at the Oswego Visitor’s Center (201 West 1st Street) from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. and at the Oswego East Side Fire Station (35 East Cayuga Street) from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Saturday, April 6th at the Oswego Visitor’s Center (201 West 1st Street) from 11:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Sunday, April 7th at the Oswego Visitor’s Center from 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.

Monday, April 8th at the Oswego East Side Fire Station (35 East Cayuga Street) from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. and at Breitbeck Park starting at 1:00 p.m. while supplies last.
