OSWEGO COUNTY – The Oswego County Veterans Collaborative presents a free day of fitness and wellness for veterans on Saturday, May 31. The event begins at 1 p.m. at Empire State Kickfit and Martial Arts, located at 23 Co. Rte. 6, Suite F in Phoenix.
“The Oswego County Veterans Collaborative is a group of agencies working together to find ways to better serve our veterans,” said Oswego County Veterans Services Agency Director Eric Boozer. “This is our first event, and we’re hoping younger veterans will be interested in participating. Younger veterans often aren’t aware of the services available to them, and this event is the perfect opportunity to connect with veteran-based organizations and learn how these resources can assist them. We encourage veterans to come out for a day of movement, mindfulness and connection.”
The schedule of activities is as follows:
- Brazilian Jiu-Jistu, 1 to 2 p.m.
- Kickfit, 2 to 2:45 p.m.
- Kickboxing, 3 to 4 p.m.
Attendees can also try virtual reality headsets for guided mindfulness and stress relief activities. Agencies from the Oswego County Veterans Collaborative will be at the event to provide information and answer any questions veterans may have.
The Oswego County Veterans Collaborative consists of The Oswego County Veterans’ Services Agency (VSA); Clear Path for Veterans; The Suicide Prevention Coalition of Oswego County; and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Syracuse VA Medical Center.
