OSWEGO, NY – The Oswego County Legislature proclaimed April as Child Abuse Prevention Month and presented a certificate to representatives from the Oswego County Department of Social Services.

Child abuse, neglect and maltreatment not only directly harm children, but also increase the likelihood of long-term physical, mental, emotional and behavioral effects.
Prevention is a community issue and effective programs can succeed through a partnership between social service agencies, schools, medical and law enforcement agencies, faith communities and civic and business organizations.
