APW Central School District Provides Updates

ALTMAR-PARISH-WILLIAMSTOWN – The APW Central School District has sent out the following letter in regards to updates within the district.

Dear APW family,

We are reaching out with several important updates.

In early April Governor Cuomo ordered that instruction across New York State continue throughout what is normally our Spring recess. Given that these days Were counted as days of instruction, the end of our academic year will fall on June 17. By June 17 we will have satisfied the state mandated number of days in session.

With regard to food distribution the warmer weather complicates our ability to safely transport and distribute perishable foods. Moving forward we will not be able to distribute foods throughout the community and will instead offer on-site pickup only at the junior-senior high school on Mondays from 10:00am-12:00pm and 4:00pm-6:00pm. We will communicate more in the coming weeks about food availability throughout the summer.

For those families with children due to start kindergarten, in person registration will be available at our district offices on Mondays 8:30-12:00 and on Wednesdays 12:00-4:00 by appointment beginning June 1, 2020.

Lastly, our annual budget public hearing will be held via zoom meeting on June 1 at 6:00 pm. In addition, you will have an opportunity to hear from the Board of Education candidates at this meeting. Please check our district website for details on meeting access. Also please be on watch fo r absentee ballots for voting on the school district budget. All ballots must be received by the district clerk no laterthan 5:00 pm on June 9th which is the date of the state-wide budget vote.
