Altmar-Parish-Williamstown Middle School students were recognized for their hard work, success, academic and athletic achievements during a recent Third Quarter Awards Assembly.
Modified winter athletic team coaches kicked off the assembly by introducing the grade seven and grade eight girls’ basketball teams and the grade seven and grade eight boys’ basketball teams.

The student athletes were presented with participation certificates and students achieving scholar athlete status were recognized.
The following students earned this distinction with a grade point average of 91.6 or better: seventh grade girls’ basketball team members Jenna Brockett, Colista Holst, Hartlyn Poore, Alyssa Priest, and Courtney Trudeau;
eighth grade girls’ basketball team members Sabrina Fields, Allayna Frank, Bobbi Ann Hoffman, Kaitie Mullin, Sarah Pappa, Madison Parkhurst, Amber Rice, and Karigan Shawcross;
seventh grade boys’ basketball team members Justin Bristol, Kenneth Bush, Carson Correll, and Brian Koagel;

and eighth grade boys’ basketball team members Joseph Baum, Kyle Burke, Joshua Hart, Kaleb Higgins, and Matthew Miller.
Also recognized during the ceremony were students who demonstrated significant academic improvement by increasing their grade point average by at least five points over the course of the third quarter.
Principal James Heffron and Dean of Students Ryan Cobb presented Rebel Honor Awards for this outstanding academic distinction to fifth grade students Caleb Bristol, Bryana Cronk, Jacob LaCelle, Samantha LaRock, Tirone McBroom, Donald Price, Damion Rayder, Kody Roe, Lisa Ryan, Seth Smith, Trevor Smith, William Vincent, and Trevon Watkins; sixth grade students Joshua Aldous, Drake Brosnan, Brittany Czysz, Jakob LaFlesh, and Victoria Merritt; seventh grade students Nickolas LeBlanc and Noah Wood; and eighth grade students Chris Douglas, Dylan Korthas, and James Thompson.

A Rebel Pride Award is presented quarterly to students who have no referrals, perfect attendance and are on the honor roll.
The following students received the Rebel Pride Award at the recent ceremony: fifth grade students Jonathon Comstock, Ashley Crabtree, Calyssa Dennison, Rhiannon Evans, Anthony Frank, Joshua Ostrander, Ryan Perkins, James Priest, Kendall Ridgeway, and Lucas Thomas; sixth grade students Jaidin DeGraw, Vehjric Dupree, Kerri Muckey, Timothy Palmer, Lorraine Sampson, Kassidy Spoon, Samuel Sweet, and Nicole Wild; seventh grade students Diana LaRock, Jordan Mull, Alyssa Priest, Noah Schreyer, Cory Smith, Hannah Trudell, and Rachel Trumble; and eighth grade students Brianna Collins, Sara Comstock, Becky Cronk, Gavin Durgan, Bobbi Ann Hoffman, Emberlin Leja, Kristopher McNabb, Amber Rice, Collin Smith, Megan Waite.

Rounding out the ceremony was the much anticipated sneaker drawing. Each quarter a drawing is held from names entered based on attendance, behavior, and academics with winners receiving a certificate for a free pair of sneakers and a lunch with the school’s character education team.
This marking period’s winners were Lara Kinney, 5th grade; Katie Alsworth, 6th grade; Cory Smith, 7th grade; and Lillian Wheeler, 8th grade.
