PARISH – The Percussion Ensemble at Altmar-Parish-Williamstown Central School District snared the audience at its Senior High Winter Concert.

The auditorium was in complete darkness as the drummers performed “Short Circuits” by Lalo Davila with glow-in-the-dark sticks.
The percussion ensemble is a half-year course that meets one period a day.
They spent several weeks memorizing the piece for the concert.
“There were many challenges we faced. But, we were able to meet or exceed them,” said APW Junior /Senior High instrumental music teacher Janet Fiacco. “I am very proud of my students!”
The high school chorus and wind ensemble also performed many festive arrangements during the concert.

Fiacco directed the wind ensemble in pieces such as “Sleigh Ride” by Leroy Anderson, while Junior/Senior High vocal music teacher MaryAnn Clarke-House directed “Good People, All Rejoice” by Philip Kern and more.
The evening concluded with a holiday sing-along (arranged by John Moss) by both the chorus and band combined, which also featured alumni and friends as guest instrumentalists, including APW Board of Education Member Casey Brouse.
