APW Student Athletes Sign Letters of Intent

OSWEGO COUNTY — History was made at APW Jr./Sr. High School as the school hosted its first-ever collegiate sports signing ceremony, celebrating two student-athletes who officially committed to continue their athletic careers at the collegiate level.

Katie Schick and Derek Rice signing their intent letters with their parents.

Seniors Katie Schick and Derek Rice signed their letters of intent in front of family, friends, coaches and staff. Shick will continue her soccer career at Roberts University, while Rice will play baseball at D’Youville University following graduation.

Coaches from both programs addressed the crowd, highlighting not only the athletes’ accomplishments on the field, but also their character, leadership and dedication in the classroom and community.

Schick and Rice are the first student-athletes from APW to sign collegiate athletic scholarships, marking a significant milestone for the district and its athletic department. Their achievements reflect both their personal commitment and the continued growth and development of APW’s sports programs and overall athletic department.

“We are incredibly proud of Katie and Derek,” said George Emrich, Athletic Director at APW. “They represent the very best of what it means to be a Rebel.”

The APW community congratulates both student-athletes on this outstanding accomplishment and looks forward to watching them represent the Rebels as they begin the next chapter of their academic and athletic journeys.
