A second grade reading group at Altmar-Parish-Williamstown Elementary School finished the school year with a traveling wax museum presentation.
The group is comprised of six students and is led by second grade teacher Hanna Weigel as a way to promote the students’ reading and reading comprehension skills.

Each student in the group selected a famous person of interest to research and then then read a biography about their figure.
The students wrote down highlights from their reading, including special facts and characteristics that they found interesting.
With their notes as their guide, each student wrote a report about their subject and then, dressed in character, each student shared their report as part of an oral presentation in the traveling wax museum.
Famous and/or public figures featured in the wax museum included: baseball legends Babe Ruth and Jackie Robinson, King Tut, the king of rock and roll Elvis Presley, author J.K. Rowling, and Sacagawea.
