OSWEGO COUNTY – Students in APW’s Business Ownership course recently planned and participated in the district’s annual Business Trade Fair and Job Fair, an event that brings student innovation and local business connections together under one roof.
Under the guidance of business teacher Amy DeJohn, students spent months bringing their business ideas to life. As part of their preparation, they developed a business plan, created logos and branding materials, built websites, designed business cards and brochures and even produced custom t-shirts to represent their brands.
Several local businesses also participated, including Empower Federal Credit Union, Pathfinder Bank, Buck’s Family Restaurant, Fire Flow Inspectors, Inc., Oswego County Workforce NY and NY Elks Camp Bristol. Their presence gave students the opportunity to network and explore various local career opportunities.
All students at APW were invited to attend and visit each business booth. To encourage engagement and meaningful conversations, students participated in a scavenger hunt, asking questions at each booth to complete their activity sheets.
“The Business Trade and Job Fair is one of my favorite events,” said DeJohn. “It gives my students the opportunity to highlight their creativity and business savvy while preparing them for their futures.”
