APW Varsity Athletic Awards Ceremony Held

PARISH – Altmar-Parish-Williamstown High School hosted the 2016 Varsity Athletic Awards Ceremony where student athletes and teams were recognized for their outstanding achievements in sports during the school year.

Athletic Director Jamie Coppola emceed the ceremony and guest speaker APW Superintendent Anita Murphy praised the students for their accomplishments.

Team honors included acknowledgement of scholar athlete teams including Girls’ Soccer, Girls’ Cross Country, Girls’ Basketball, Girls’ Volleyball, Golf, Boys’ Outdoor Track, Girls’ Outdoor Track and Hockey.

Eight out of 14 APW varsity teams were scholar athlete teams.

Rebel Awards were presented to the following athletes:

Most Competitive – James Parkhurst; Team Player – Tim Palmer; Dedication – Brandon Sebelowitz and Amber Rice; Warrior – Megan Ruffos; Most Improved – Taylor Matlock; Work Horse – Amber Rice and Brianna Karboski; Sportsman – Sarah Pappa; and Ultimate Rebel – Amber Rice and Takota Jacobson.

In addition, the US Army Reserves Distinguished Athlete Award was presented to Jenna Brockett and Sage Bartlett for their leadership and outstanding citizenship as well as athleticism.

Section III Scholar Athlete Awards were given to Allayna Frank and Sage Bartlett for their participation in sports, athletic honors, academic honors, extra-curricular activities, volunteer work and community service.

The C. Rex Crosby Award, presented to a senior who exhibits outstanding citizenship, athletic ability and sportsmanship, was awarded to Ellen Parker.

The Floyd G. Bristol Award, given to the top male and female athlete with the most recognized athletic ability, was presented to Kaleb Higgins and Amber Rice.

Outstanding Athletes of the Year were Sage Bartlett and Deshae Jones.
