Art Show featured Matisse theme

The Matisse the Beast Art Show held recently in the Pulaski High School library featured a large number of Matisse-inspired artwork by students in grades 7-12 at the school.

Henri Matisse, a French artist known for his use of color and his fluid and original designs, is regarded as one of the artists who helped define the avant-garde developments in the plastic arts and is responsible for significant developments in painting and sculpture.

On display were diverse art pieces reflective of Matisse’s works including paintings, drawings, sculpture, graphic arts, paper cutouts and illustrations.

The show, organized by art teachers Karen Backus and Stacey Walton, included awards for artwork in the various mediums. missing or outdated ad config
