The Oswego Arts Collaborative is now accepting donations from the public to purchase materials for much needed repairs to the mobile band stand (shown in the photo above) known as The Weldon Grose Memorial. “The band stand is 35 years old and is used often at many local events like the farmer’s market and the Breitbeck Park Summer Concerts,” said Donald Goodness Musicians Union President and Director of City Band. “It needs multiple repairs so it can continue to serve the people of Oswego.” The City of Oswego DPW estimates the repairs at $3200-$3600 and will be providing all labor and some materials for the repairs.

“This is the 75th anniversary summer of our concerts,” said Goodness. “It’s been a long and successful tradition which generations of people from the Oswego area have enjoyed. We have commissioned a work by Arthur Frackenpohl to be debuted in August. It would be wonderful to have the band stand looking and functioning at its best.”

The Oswego Arts Collaborative was formed in 2009 as a catalyst for the economic development and sustainability of the visual and performing arts in the Oswego area. The Arts Collaborative is happy to work with the Oswego City Band and The American Federation of Musicians Union Local 267-441 to assist with this worthwhile effort.
