The annual summer art camp enjoyed a new space located in the Arts Center on the Cayuga College Fulton Campus and continued support from the community for art and theatre classes.

Arty Camp 2018 will offer new art mediums in a shorter four-week camp experience including both visual studio arts and performing arts.

Arty Camp 2017 saw the return of Don Gillespie, aerospace artist and Fulton native, for a week of teaching special techniques to young aspiring artists.

The popular mid-day program of free lunches and art projects, made possible by OCO and a grant from Oswego City/County Youth Bureau delivered an art experience open for free to any child in the county.

The full-day art camp included programming in visual and performing arts.

Acrylic painting, Harry Potter art, yarn painting, sculpting, Earth art and cartooning were among the popular classes.

Aspiring actors learned improvisation and auditioning skills, practiced playwriting and skit building, and learned about theatre professionalism.

Parents were invited to presentations of original theatre performances created by the campers and enjoyed exhibits of completed art projects at the close of each session.

Scholarship support was offered from the Jim and Julie Boeheim Foundation and the Don Gillespie Arty Camp Scholarship Fund.

ARTY Camp 2018 continues to develop the scholarship program alongside the free lunch and art project component.

A full description of classes and programming is expected by March, 2018.
