OSWEGO COUNTY – The Oswego County Department of Community Development, Tourism and Planning reminds resident about two free workshops on Tuesday, April 7 for tenants and landlords to learn about fair housing rights and responsibilities.
The workshops are held in partnership with CNY Fair Housing and will be led by Executive Director Sally Santangelo.
The first workshop covers fair housing for landlords and runs from 10 to 11:30 a.m. The second workshop for service providers and tenants runs from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Both workshops are hosted in the community room of the Oswego Public Library, 120 E. Second St., Oswego.
Landlords coming to the first workshop will learn about their fair housing rights and responsibilities as a proprietor. Topics of discussion include fair housing laws, tenant screening, reasonable accommodation and more.
The workshop for service providers and tenants covers rights and responsibilities as a tenant. Attendees will learn about fair housing laws, such as recognizing discrimination, accommodation for people with disabilities, tenants’ rights and new housing legislation.
