Third grade students from Lanigan Elementary School in the Fulton City School District recently visited their local K-Mart store with a selfless mission in mind: buy toys for needy children in the area.

The students held a Spell-a-thon where they used pledge sheets to raise money for every correctly spelled word from a list of 100 words.
The generosity of family and friends brought in enough money that each of the 78 students shopping had $20 to spend on the child they were shopping for.
The third grade students, along with parent and staff chaperones, shopped through the store for just the right items to help brighten a child’s Christmas morning.
