State Sen. Darrel J. Aubertine joined village Mayor Grant J. Rohrmoser, village officials and firefighters to announce a $20,000 grant to help the Village of Sandy Creek save money at its fire hall in the face of rising energy costs.
“Senator Aubertine came through with this money to help us save on our energy bills for the fire hall,” Mayor Rohrmoser said. “The more money we save on energy, the more money we can put toward the equipment our firefighters need to protect lives and property in our village. I’d like to thank Senator Aubertine for stepping up to help our village.”
The local initiative funding secured through the Senator will be used to implement the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority’s (NYSERDA) recommendations for the fire hall, which is used by the volunteer fire department, community groups and has been designated by Oswego County Emergency Management Services as an emergency shelter.
“The village is looking to the future and this money will help them achieve long term savings that will benefit volunteer fire service in this community,” Senator Aubertine said. “Our volunteer first responders put their lives on the line and we need to make sure they have the resources they need to protect our citizens and property. By spending less on energy, the village can make sure firefighters have what they need, without impacting the local taxpayers.”
