Literacy Volunteers of Oswego County’s (LVOC) Scrabble Fest Auction will highlight this year’s 4th Annual Diane Falise Memorial Scrabble Fest. This year’s Scrabble Fest will be held on Friday, April 23, from 6:30 to 9 p.m., at the Oswego Elk’s Lodge, 132 W. Fifth St., Oswego. In addition to a silent and live auction, participants will enjoy raffles, door prizes, delicious hors d’ouevres, a cash bar and lots of fun!

“The support our community shows us by donating gifts to our auction cannot be overstated.” said LVOC Executive Director Jane Murphy. “Members of our Scrabble Committee have been busy collecting new and exciting items from businesses and organizations from all over the state.”

Some of this year’s donors are: special events tickets, gift certificates and items from The Syracuse Chiefs, Seabreeze, Darien Lake, local restaurants, Man on the Moon Candies basket and a Buffalo Bills team yearbook.

In addition to the auction, there will be several raffles. “The Perfect Evening” raffle includes an overnight stay at Pleasant Beach Inn in Fair Haven. To round out the perfect evening, the winner will also receive a gift certificate for a dinner sponsored by Step One Creative and chocolates. There will also be a Quilt Raffle for a lovely quilt designed and donated by Oswego resident Margaret Mulcahey.

Participants at Scrabble Fest need to register a team of four and compete against fellow teams in four rounds of Scrabble. Registration must be made in advance so please contact LVOC as soon as possible.

Everyone need not compete at this event. For a ten-dollar donation participants can enjoy watching the games, silent and live auctions and raffles.

“We are really fortunate to receive donations from so many businesses in our community,” said Auction Chairperson Rhonda Hutchins. “Their participation is appreciated by the organization and all of those individuals who receive help from LVOC.  It is just another example of our community coming together to help improve the lives of its members.”
