August 20-21 Clayton-1000 Islands Gun & Sportsmen’s Show Adds New Features

In addition to favorite classic gun vendors and the latest in sportsmen’s gear, new features at the August 20-21, 2011 Clayton-1000 Islands Gun Show at Clayton’s Cerow Recreation Park Arena include the Ducks Unlimited laser shooting trailer, Wii video games for the kids, and door prizes donated by Otis Technology of Lyons Falls, NY.

Clayton, NY – Ready to try laser-guided hunting? Interested in military memorabilia? Need gear for your next outdoor sporting adventure? Maybe you’re looking for a guide or gunsmith. Do your kids like Wii video hunting games? Then bring everyone to the August 20-21, 2011 Clayton-1000 Islands Gun & Sportsmen’s Show at Cerow Recreation Park in Clayton, New York.

The Ducks Unlimited laser shooting exhibit will visit the show that is the largest of its kind in Northern New York. The show features new, used and antique firearms and black powder guns, knives, fishing tackle, decoys, leather goods and outdoor gear.

Gunsmiths, hunting guides, and collectors/sellers of military memorabilia answer questions and swap stories with show-goers. Along with the Wii games, there will be a face painter for the kids.

Doreen Garrett, creator of the Otis gun cleaning kits considered the industry standard for the US Armed Forces, law enforcement agencies, and sportsmen, is providing door prizes. Garrett was voted Business Person of the Year in Lewis County in 2010.

Dealers have ammunition, scopes, sights, binoculars, reloading equipment, gun cases, holsters, grips, cleaning kits, cartridges, shells, calibers, and gauges. In addition to selling, the dealers buy and trade goods.

NCIS checks are required for all firearm sales/purchases.

Show proceeds will benefit the Rotary Club of Clayton scholarship program. Nine scholarships totaling $4,000 are awarded annually to Thousands Islands and LaFargeville Central School graduates with exemplary academic achievement and community service.

This is the 34th Clayton-1000 Islands Gun & Sportsmen’s Show. The event is a Yellow Ribbon Event for military personnel and their families.

Show hours are 8:30 am-5 pm Saturday, August 20 and 9 am-4 pm Sunday, August 21. The $5 adult, $4 military with ID at the door admission benefits the Rotary Club’s community, scholarship and international service projects. Children under 12 enter free.
