Author Marilyn Higgins

(Oswego, New York) – On Saturday, May 10th at 2:00 p.m., local author Marilyn Higgins will visit the Oswego Public Library to discuss her debut novel “Dreams of Freedom.”

Set along the Erie Canal in the turbulent years before the Civil War, “Dreams of Freedom” follows a 20-year-old Irish immigrant caught in the rising waves of violence. Blending history and mystery, the novel captures the spirit of Upstate New York during a pivotal era in American history.

Higgins, a former Chief Economic Development Officer at National Grid and Syracuse University, has long been dedicated to the preserving and celebrating of the Erie Canal’s legacy. Her years of volunteer work at the Erie Canal National Heritage Corridor inspired the story.

Signed copies of “Dreams of Freedom” will be available for purchase.
