“As part of B104.7’s Community Engagement program, we are happy to be able to promote and support events like OCO’s Bowl-A-Fun. The Country Music Association has recognized B104.7 for its community involvement. The station has also been nominated many times for the CMA’s Station of the Year and Personality of the Year and won in 2004,” he said.

“We are thrilled to have Rich and B104.7 as part of our annual Bowl-A-Fun,” said committee member Christine Prevost. “Those taking part in the event will enjoy the opportunity to meet and talk with Rich, and his dynamic personality will be a welcome addition to this fun, family event.”

OCO’s annual Bowl-A-Fun offers an afternoon of bowling and fun for the whole family, while raising funds to help support the many human services programs that the agency offers.

“We’re seeing an increased demand for our services,” said OCO executive director Diane Cooper-Currier. “Events like our Bowl-A-Fun help us to continue much needed services in the wake of state and federal funding cuts. We have enjoyed tremendous support from the community for our past Bowl-A-Fun events and we are looking forward to another successful, fun-filled afternoon.”

Funds from this year’s Bowl-A-Fun will help boost the agency’s general fund, which provides financial support, as needed to the many programs that OCO offers.

Funds raised through OCO’s Bowl-A-Fun will help:

Provide healthcare to uninsured individuals who otherwise could not afford to go to a doctor.
Provide positive recreational activities to at-risk young people in the Youth Drop-in Centers.
Purchase furniture for adults with developmental disabilities.
Provide field trips for daycare and school age children.
Provide door-to-door transportation services for the elderly.
Provide 280 free, nutritious meals to 20 individuals in need throughout the year.

Lauber, whose daughter is a junior at Fulton’s G. Ray Bodley High School, is personally involved with many activities in Fulton and the surrounding area and is familiar with the role that OCO plays in Oswego County.

“B104.7 recognizes that OCO provides a wide array of important services to the community. I am looking forward to being a part of OCO’s Bowl-A-Fun and helping to support the agency’s efforts,” he said.

Lauber is scheduled to appear at the event at 1:30 p.m.

“I invite community members to join us for an afternoon of bowling and fun,” added Cooper-Currier. “It’s a great way to show your concern and help those in need in our communities. Whether you’re a gutter duster or a real pro, come out, enjoy an afternoon of fun and help us continue our mission of building partnerships that improve the quality of life and create successful communities.”

The Bowl-A-Fun will consist of two flights of bowling: noon to 2:30 p.m. and 3 – 5:30 p.m.

It will feature a full afternoon of food, fun, door prizes, raffles and awards; including a new Team Spirit Award for the team in each flight that demonstrates their team spirit in the most creative way.

OCO is currently accepting team registrations as well as sponsorships from businesses that would like to be a part of the event.

At a cost of $15 per bowler, participants receive two games of bowling and shoe rental, as well as complimentary refreshments and entries into prize drawings that take place throughout the event.
