BOCES Students Present “The Ugly Pumpkin”

Students in Julie Galvin’s class at the Oswego County BOCES Fourth Street School in Fulton presented a fun and seasonally festive play titled “The Ugly Pumpkin” for parents, family members, and fellow students recently. The play, written by Carol Pugliano, was similar in premise to the story of the Ugly Duckling and followed two pumpkin farmers as watched a crop of seedlings sprout and grow. Much to their dismay the crop yielded one oddly shaped yellow pumpkin that they were sure was never going to be selected for the local school’s jack-o-lantern contest. The “ugly” pumpkin, played by OCB Teaching Assistant Shan Warren above, was not only selected by a student (played by Mark Bagley, center) for the contest, but captured a first place blue ribbon. Also pictured is OCB student Tyler Seales who played the part of a giant orange pumpkin in the production.
