Bodley Students Had Successful Fall Sports Season

FULTON – Several G. Ray Bodley High School athletes received various accolades as they closed out the fall 2017 sports season.

Chris Ells, FCSD director of health, physical education and athletics, said he was elated that five players alone from the girls’ varsity lacrosse team signed commitment letters to play Division 1 lacrosse at National Collegiate Athletic Association schools.

That accomplishment was a first for a GRB athletic team.

Both Hailey Carroll and Mallori Kitts will play for the University at Albany, while Jordan Coulon will play for the University of Connecticut and George Mason University will welcome McKenna Chesbro. Hannah Burlingham signed with Duquesne University.

Additional successes for both Individual and team honors for male and female GRB varsity athletes are as follows:

• Football- 18 players named to All-League
• Golf- Ean Stevenson qualified for sectionals and there were three All-League honorees
• Boys’ soccer- placed first in the league, made it to the semi-finals of the Class A Section 3 tournament, nine players named to All-League and Matt Borrow was named Player of the Year.
• Girls’ soccer- placed second in the league, second in the Oswego Mr. B Tournament, made it to the semi-finals of the Section 3 tournament, had three All-League recipients and Hailey Carroll, Jordan Coulon and Maddie Lang were all named as Section 3 Class A All-Stars, while Lang also received the Section 3 Class A Goalie of the Year honor.
• Girls’ tennis- Katie Distin qualified for individual sectionals at first singles and Erin Waloven and Gabby Bailey qualified for individual sections at first doubles.
• Girls’ volleyball- placed third in the league and second in the FM Tournament.
