SYRACUSE, NY – Bowers & Company CPAs is pleased to announce its merger with Caswell & Associates, and welcomes Brian A. Caswell, CPA to the firm as council.
Besides building a successful local certified public accounting firm, Caswell is highly regarded in the accounting industry in the areas of ethics and governance.
Caswell currently serves on the prestigious International Standards Board for Accountants where he is one of only 18 voting members. This major committee develops the Code of Ethics for Professional Accountants, and for multinational engagements.
It is comprised of more than 175 members and associates in more than 130 countries and jurisdictions, representing approximately 2.8 million accountants in public practice, education, government service, industry, and commerce.
In Caswell’s distinguished career he has been active at many levels of certified public accounting governance, as past president and chairman of the Ethics Committee for the New York State Society of CPAs, past member, board of directors, New York State Society of CPAs, past president of the Foundation for Accounting Education and past chairman of Independence and Behavioral Standards of the AICPA Ethics Division.
Caswell currently serves as trustee of Fulton Savings Bank, president of the board, St. Luke’s Heath Services, treasurer of Catholic Charities of Oswego County.
Caswell has always been thankful for the support of his local community, and holds a strong belief in giving back to the community. In a career dedicated to service, he has previously served on many local boards, including: treasurer of Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Syracuse, chairman board of directors, A.L. Lee Memorial Hospital, president, Greater Phoenix Chamber of Commerce, president Enterprise Fire Company No.1, Fulton Historical Society and Oswego Health among others.
Caswell has also been active in teaching, with the Foundation for Accounting Education teaching ethics and accounting; and as an adjunct professor for the State University of New York at Oswego, teaching auditing.
Caswell is a graduate of Hamilton College (Bachelor of Arts), Le Moyne College (Accounting Post Graduate Program), and Syracuse University (Masters in Business Administration).
