Phoenix, NY — Brayhope Farm, a nonprofit donkey sanctuary and educational farm located in Phoenix, New York, is proud to announce that it has achieved Guardian status through the EQUUS Foundation, the nation’s only charity dedicated exclusively to protecting America’s horses and strengthening the horse-human bond. This prestigious designation recognizes equine organizations that demonstrate exceptional transparency, responsible governance, financial accountability, and a steadfast commitment to equine welfare.

As a designated EQUUS Guardian, Brayhope Farm is eligible to receive up to $5,000 in funding opportunities available through the EQUUS Foundation’s Guardian program. The organization completed a comprehensive application and review process designed to verify adherence to the highest standards of nonprofit management and animal care.

In its first year as an EQUUS Guardian, Brayhope Farm received a $500 Guardian grant in 2025, which was used to provide essential hoof trims for the sanctuary’s resident donkeys. Brayhope Farm looks forward to future funding opportunities available through the program to further support donkey care and educational programming.

Diane Tucker Nedrow, CEO & Founder of Brayhope Farm, shared her excitement:

“Achieving EQUUS Guardian status is an important milestone for Brayhope Farm. The process challenged us to demonstrate the strength of our governance, transparency, and commitment to the highest standards of care for our donkeys. We are honored to be recognized by the EQUUS Foundation and grateful for the opportunities Guardian status provides to help us continue advancing our mission.”

Tammy Lally Lozipone, Board Chair, emphasized the significance of the achievement:

“Having completed this application process at another organization, I can say with 1000% certainty that becoming an EQUUS Guardian is a very big deal. It speaks volumes about the integrity of a 501(c)(3). When you donate to Brayhope Farm, you can be confident your dollars truly sustain and strengthen our mission. Achieving Guardian status is a celebration of hard work, accountability, and Diane’s unwavering dedication to meeting the highest standards of nonprofit and equine welfare excellence.”

The EQUUS Foundation’s Guardian program recognizes equine charities nationwide that uphold best practices in animal care, organizational leadership, financial stewardship, and public accountability. Brayhope Farm’s achievement reflects its ongoing commitment to providing exceptional lifelong care for its resident donkeys while serving as a trusted educational and community resource.
