OSWEGO, NY – The Clubhouse Tavern and Wiltsie Construction have joined together to cook up an idea to benefit United Way of Greater Oswego County’s annual Stuff-A-Bus campaign.
On July 30 from 8 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., The Clubhouse Tavern, 126 W. Second St., will host a free breakfast.
Sponsored by Wiltsie Construction and The Clubhouse Tavern and coordinated by a committee co-chaired by Dan and Liz Dorsey of Eagle Beverage, the breakfast is available free of charge and is open to the public.
All donations accepted at the event will benefit the United Way’s Stuff-A-Bus campaign that helps provides area youth in need with the supplies they need to begin the school year.
“This is the sixth year that we have hosted this event,” said Robert McGrath, owner of The Clubhouse Tavern. “The United Way does a lot to benefit the youth in our community and we are happy to be able to support their efforts and help raise money for their programs. With the city filled with visitors for Harborfest we are looking forward to welcoming a big crowd.”
“We are very appreciative of the support we are receiving from Wiltsie Construction, The Clubhouse Tavern and our planning committee,” said Executive Director of the United Way of Greater Oswego County, Melanie Trexler. “It’s encouraging to see that businesses and community members recognize the importance of helping our youth and supporting their United Way. Last year, our “Stuff-A-Bus” program served approximately 1,400 students and we would like to help even more this year. I am looking forward to the event and I hope our community members join us for a delicious breakfast.”
In addition to the breakfast, the United Way will also be holding a drawing for a chance to win a mountain bike, courtesy of Eagle Beverage and The Clubhouse Tavern.
Tickets are available at The Clubhouse Tavern and the United Way office, 1 S. First St., Fulton.
Partnering with more than 20 business and organizations, as well as school districts throughout Oswego County, United Way of Greater Oswego County’s Stuff-A-Bus campaign collects donations of school supplies for distribution to less fortunate students throughout Oswego County.
The highlight of the “Stuff-A-Bus” campaign will be a special collection day on Aug. 10 when school buses will be at the following sites from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. to accept donations of school supplies from pens and pencils to notebooks and backpacks:
Wal-Mart on Route 49 in Central Square; Wal-Mart on Route 104 in Oswego; Wal-Mart on Route 3 in Granby; Kinney Drugs at 3318 Main Street in Mexico; Kinney Drugs at 3873 Rome Road in Pulaski; Kinney Drugs at 17 S. First Street in Fulton; The Hannibal Village Market IGA, Route 3 in Hannibal; Fulton Savings Bank parking lot, Route 57 in Phoenix
