BREWERTON — The Brewerton Elementary Parent-Teacher Organization announced Oct. 19 that its annual Walk-A-Thon raised more than $20,000, surpassing its $16,000 goal, according to a release from the Center for Instruction, Technology & Innovation.

The funds will support students, teachers and school programming, including educational experiences and activities throughout the academic year.

More than 50 local business sponsorship signs were displayed outside the school during the event. Sponsors received recognition on event T-shirts and social media, as well as invitations to host tables at the upcoming Spring Carnival.

Fifth grader Hailey Simmons designed the official logo for the 2026 Walk-A-Thon T-shirt after winning a schoolwide design contest. Students who collected $30 or more in pledges earned a T-shirt featuring Simmons’ design to wear during the walk.

The top three fundraising classrooms earned a pizza party. The winning classrooms were led by teachers Gould in first place, Henry in second place and Saunders in third place.

Principal Vanessa McClowry promised to participate in a “silly-string showdown” if the school reached its $16,000 goal. With the goal surpassed, she will fulfill the challenge during an upcoming school assembly, the release said.

Brewerton Elementary, the PTO and the Central Square School District thanked the families, staff, volunteers and business sponsors who contributed to the event.
