Build Your Own Boat Program Offered

OSWEGO, NY – It’s not too late, space is still available! You and your family can build a workable boat in just three days (Sept. 12, 13 and 19).

The Livesey family takes time out from running Rudy's Restaurant and assisting with the Tour-de-Loop to have some family time in the Historic Maritime District. They are building a dory lark boat during the August Family Boat Building Program.

The H. Lee White Marine Museum and the Oswego Maritime Foundation are partnering with the SUNY Department of Technology and Raby’s Ace Home Center to offer a family boat-building opportunity.

You and your family can join in an instructional, hands-on program that culminates in a completed boat for your family’s use.

“The program fosters a collaborative family bonding experience for our participants” noted Rich Bush, program coordinator.

Call the Marine Museum office to find out which boat kits are still available.

Price is dependant upon boat choice and is kept very reasonable thanks to a generous donation from our sponsor, Raby’s ACE Home Center.

This program has been seen elsewhere in the US for much higher prices.

All materials and tools are provided and no special skills are needed.

You must register as soon as possible and prepayment is required.

Family selection will be on a first pay basis.

At least one responsible adult, parent or guardian over the age of 18 years, must be included in each group and there is an age limit of 9 years old for the children due to the skills needed to complete the project.

Groups of at least 2 are requested.

Call the museum for details or to register, at 315-342-0480.
