Mary Pryor of FLS Home and School Association said, “Inna Loayza, a Leighton parent, spearheaded and organized a spring bulb planting at our school.”

Recently, outside of every classroom the ground was prepared and students each placed a flower bulb in the narrow trench. They then covered the bulbs with dirt and many students jumped up and down firmly placing the dirt around the flower bulbs.

Loayza said, “It was a great job by everyone. I am so, so proud of our work together. It was not easy for teachers to organize every class to come out and plant, but the students were so well behaved. I hope the bulbs grow to be beautiful spring flowers to make us all smile some more.”

Principal Julie Burger said, “This was a wonderful project. Students learned about bulbs, experienced the process of planting them and the entire school community will share in the joy of their creation this coming spring.”

The event was a tremendous cooperative effort and supporting it were Leighton Home and School Association, Loayza and the Rainbow Garden Committee, Lowe’s of Oswego and Ontario Orchards.
