Burritt Motor Employees Share The Warmth

Burritt clothing and toy donation 2026
Burritt Motor employees conducted an internal clothing and toy drive with their team as a way to give back to the community. Second Chances was the selected recipient of the successful collection and will help replenish their shop. On hand to present the donations are (from left) Burritt employees Sabrina Loughrey, Hailey Payment and Kelsey Austin to Second Chances Program Director Alicia Friedrich (second from r) and some of the program volunteers.

OSWEGO – Burritt Motors has always maintained a commitment to give back to the community. As part of their annual Day of Caring projects, employees wanted to make a direct local impact and decided to hold an internal clothing and toy drive. What started out as a simple idea turned into a very successful endeavor. The generosity of the employees filled ten large bags with various clothing items along with a storage bin of great toys.

Although their efforts were commendable and the results of their hard work were impressive, they still wanted to make this project the most impactful. Utilizing Burritt’s partnership  with United Way of Oswego County, a worthy organization was identified.

Second Chances, a no-cost thrift store in the heart of the Oswego community, was the chosen program to receive these items. At Second Chances, community members can browse for clothes, household items, furniture and toys, among other things, free of charge. After learning about the program Second Chances offers, the Burritt employees were confident their donation was going to a good place.

Supporting the community is natural for the employees of Burritt’s. For nearly 10 years, employee participation in the Day of Caring Events has offered the team members an opportunity to get out in the community and participate in dozens of beautification projects. “We’re proud to work for a company where giving back to our community is more than just an idea—it’s something our employees and my team genuinely care about and come together to make happen.”, said Kelsey Austin, Manager Business Development Center, Burritt Motors Inc.

Second Chances was honored to be chosen as the organization of choice for this collection. “We are very grateful to the Burritt employees for this generous donation”, said Alicia Friedrich, director of Second Chances. “Community connections, like this, is what fuels our program and allows us to offer this service.”, added Friedrich.

Second Chances is located at 51 E, Oneida St., Oswego, and is open Tues.-Fri., 1-3pm.
