Fulton, NY – The Cancer Services Program of the North Country, administered by Oswego County Opportunities, Inc. (OCO), and ConnextCare, will be hosting a free cancer screening event on January 25th from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the ConnextCare office at 5856 Scenic Ave. in Mexico.
ConnextCare will be offering pap/pelvic exams and breast exams to both insured and uninsured patients 40 years or older.
“With January being Cervical Cancer Awareness Month we are happy to be partnering with ConnextCare to offer these free cancer screenings,” said Carolyn Handville, coordinator of the Cancer Services Program of the North Country. “Unlike many cancers, cervical cancer can be prevented through screenings. Cervical cancer usually begins with no symptoms, which makes regular screening the key to finding it early. Screening tests can find the cells that lead to cancer early so that may be easier to treat and can be removed before cancer starts.”
Pap / Pelvic exams and breast exams will be available from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Individuals with insurance can schedule an appointment by calling 315-963-4133. No insurance? No problem! Contact the Cancer Services Program at 315-592-0830 to set up your free screenings.
“Cancer screenings are an essential part of your healthcare. Providing free breast exams and free Pap / Pelvic exams at the same location makes this event a ‘one stop shop’ for comprehensive cancer screenings for women!” added Handville.
Adminstered by OCO, the Cancer Services Program of the North Country provides free cancer screenings including clinical breast exams, mammograms, pap/pelvic exams and colorectal cancer screenings to community members who are uninsured and between 40 and 64 years of age.
