Oswego, NY – Oswego High School Class of 2013 Graduates Cameron Caruso and Lisette DuFore were named the recipients of this year’s Elmer G. Hadlow Memorial Music Scholarship, which is awarded annually to an Oswego High School student who pursues an education and/or career in music.
The co-winners each received $250 for the recognition. The annual scholarship was established in 2005, upon the passing of Elmer G. Hadlow, a longtime resident of Oswego, and strong advocate of music in the Oswego community. Hadlow sang for over 50 years in church choirs, barbershop quartets and choruses throughout Oswego County and Central New York.
“We are very pleased to announce two recipients for the scholarship this year,” said Hadlow’s family members. “Both Cameron and Lisette have showed their passion and commitment to music, are each incredibly talented, and are now continuing their interests in college.”
Caruso, is the son of Romao and Karen Caruso of Oswego, and is now studying Music Education at Evangel University. While at Oswego High School, Caruso, was active in music at Oswego Alliance Church, Oswego Chamber Singers, Chorale, Area All-State Chorus, All-County Chorus, National Youth Choir 2012, Heritage Music Festival 2011 and NYSSMA Solofest. He was also cast in the musicals Crazy for You, Oliver, The Sound of Music, and The Secret Garden.
DuFore, is the daughter of Mark and Lisa DuFore of Oswego, and is studying Music Education at SUNY Fredonia. DuFore was a four-year member of the Oswego High School Marching Band, a member of the National Honor Society, and also two-year member of Interact Club.
