Catholic Charities of Oswego County Announces Fresh Food Distribution

Fulton, NY – On Wednesday, December 9th the Emergency Services Program of Catholic Charities of Oswego County in cooperation with the Food Bank of Central New York will sponsor a fresh food distribution. Fresh foods and produce will be available, free of charge to those in need, from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm or until food is gone. Please bring your own bags or boxes. Distribution will be at the Elks Lodge, 57 Pierce Drive in Fulton.

Catholic Charities is now using a new system, supported by the Food Bank of CNY, which allows for an easier method of food distribution. Those in attendance will receive a number from a random drawing that will take place approximately twenty minutes prior to the beginning of the food distribution. The number will determine that person’s place in line and alleviate the need for people to come to the food distribution hours in advance to be among the first in line. The new system allows for a much more equitable distribution of the food on hand so that those who are unable to wait for hours will still have an equal opportunity to receive food.

For more information on the food distribution you may contact Helen Hoefer at 598-3980.

Catholic Charities food pantry and thrift shop will close at 12 Noon on December 9th in preparation for the food distribution. The food pantry and thrift shop will re-open on Thursday, December 10th at 9:00 a.m.

Catholic Charities of Oswego County serves all people in need regardless of their religious affiliation. Primary funding sources for Catholic Charities of Oswego County programs are the United Way of Greater Oswego County, the Diocesan Hope Appeal, the County of Oswego and private donations by individuals and local companies and organizations.
