Celebration Of Community Music May 9, Features Fulton Community Band, Hamer Memorial And FMA Award Winner

The Fulton Music Association’s (FMA) 25th Annual Celebration of Community Music will be presented at 7:00 p.m., Saturday, May 9, at the First United Methodist Church of Fulton, it was announced by Steve Chirello, FMA president. The church is at 1408 State Route 176. The 2026 FMA senior music award winner and the Mary A. and Ernest A. Hamer Music Award will also be announced at this event and the recipient will perform. Admission is free and the concert will feature the Fulton Community Band, (above) under the direction of Luigi Giacomucci, who is also the G. Ray Bodley High School band director.

FULTON, NY —The Fulton Music Association’s (FMA) 25th Annual Celebration of Community Music will be presented at 7:00 p.m., Saturday, May 9, at the First United Methodist Church of Fulton, it was announced by Steve Chirello, FMA president. The church is at 1408 State Route 176. The 2026 FMA $500 senior music award winner and the Mary A. and Ernest A. Hamer Music Award for $1,000 will also be announced at this event and the recipient will perform.

            The Hamer award is in honor and memory of Mary and Ernest Hamer and their love and support of music in Fulton. Their family established this scholarship for a graduating senior who plans to pursue a career in music.

Admission is free and the concert will feature the Fulton Community Band, under the direction of Luigi Giacomucci, who is also the G. Ray Bodley High School band director.

 Among the selections planned by the community band are Galop Festivo, The Lion King, Whispers From Beyond, The Liberty Bell March, Radetsky March, and Symphony No. 9 “New World”. The band is under the direction of Luigi Giacomucci, who is also the band director for G. Ray Bodley High School.

In addition, the FMA will have  members in the lobby before and during concert intermission with information on how to join FMA and support their efforts, Chirello said.

All concert participants are generously donating their time for FMA, Chirello said. “In addition to helping high school students receive FMA awards this spring, the FMA is presenting the TGIF Concert Series, sponsored by Oswego County Federal Credit Union, with support from Fulton Savings Bank and Brookfield Renewable U.S. All concerts are free on Friday nights at the S. First St. gazebo in downtown Fulton.
