Changes for Oswego County Housing Program Announced

OSWEGO COUNTY – The New York State Housing Trust Fund Corporation has selected JEM, Inc.’s Central Office HVC to administer the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Rental Assistance Program in Oswego County.

“We remain committed to our residents and believe that this new agency will maintain the highest quality service they have come to expect,” said Oswego County Community Development, Tourism and Planning Director Tim Stahl. “The experienced and dedicated team at JEM, Inc. is more than capable of supporting the needs of our residents through this transition and beyond.”

He added that, “The responsibilities of residents who participate in this program will not change and there should be no disruption in the issuance of housing assistance payments to their landlords and/or the receipt of utility assistance payments, if applicable.”

While this change closes the local housing (HUD) office, located in the Oswego County Legislative Office Building, program participants will not need to travel to JEM, Inc.’s Central Office HVC in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. All interviews and paperwork will be conducted by telephone, e-mail or postal service, with return envelopes included for easy response.

JEM, Inc. brings 50 years of experience working with housing requirements and regulations to ensure a smooth transition of the program and assist residents with any questions they may have.
