A.A. Cole Elementary School students were recently treated to a carnival night for having exhibited positive character traits throughout the 2015-2016 school year.

The event featured fun and games in the courtyard, kid-friendly karaoke, a photo booth, balloon animals, glittery tattoos and drawings for themed baskets to take home.
Students and their family members served hot dogs and lemonade or water, and enjoyed conversation with some of the few hundred people in attendance.

The highlight of the evening for many guests was when Principal Michael Smolnik was duct taped to the back wall of the stage in the cafeteria.
He agreed to the challenge after students exceeded their $1,000 fundraising goal for the Joe Niekro Foundation, which promotes awareness of and funds research of brain aneurysms.
