Child Advocacy Center Seeks New Board Members

FULTON, NY – Want to make a difference if the lives of young people in our community?

Now is your chance as the Child Advocacy Center of Oswego County is currently seeking concerned community members interested in applying for a seat on the agency’s board of directors.

Established in 2001, the Child Advocacy Center of Oswego County is a non-profit charitable organization that provides a safe, child-friendly site for investigation, prosecution and treatment of child abuse and offers a wide range of services to children who have been physically, sexually, or emotionally abused.

Working together with law enforcement investigators, child protective services, medical providers, therapeutic professionals, victim support professionals, and the district attorney’s office, the CAC looks to maintain a well-coordinated, effective approach to child abuse investigation and prosecution, and service provision to families and individuals affected by child abuse.

The 15-seat board of directors for the CAC is made up of a combination of residents of the communities that the agency serves, appointed and / or elected officials from throughout Oswego County and members who are representative of the agencies that the CAC works with.

Executive director of the CAC Karrie Damm said that the agency is looking for community members who genuinely care about the well being of the children in Oswego County.

“Board members play an integral part in the operation of our agency. Their input not only helps establish the agency’s mission and goals, it also ensures that we are focused on protecting and serving the children of Oswego County. As a board member of the CAC you have the rare opportunity to make a real difference in our community by helping to shape programs and services that have a profoundly positive impact on our youth,” she said.

Those interested in being considered to serve on the board of directors are urged to submit their applications no later than Sept. 1.

Once the applications have been accepted a committee will begin the review process and some candidates may be invited for interviews.
