The United State Department of Agriculture Summer Food Service program will be in full swing with the cooperative effort of the Oswego YMCA and the Oswego City School District School Lunch Program.

The program started June 27 and continues throughout the summer breakfast and lunch will be offered free of charge at four sites in Oswego.

Jackie Sheffield, membership and financial development officer of the YMCA, said, “We are glad to partner with the school district in providing nutritious and healthy meals for youngsters in our community. All we ask is that they come and enjoy. They need not bring any money just an appetite.”

Dennis Jerome, Oswego City School District school lunch director said, “We feed students in our schools throughout the year and this is just an extension of that. This USDA program supplies our youngsters with a healthy meal twice  a day and hopefully many people will partake in the opportunity.”

The program will be conducted at two sites on the west side and a pair of locations on the east side of Oswego.

Breakfast and lunch will be available on the east side at the Oswego YMCA  Youth Center, at Fort Ontario (Building 27) next to the Army Reserve headquarters at 10-11 a.m. for breakfast and 1-2:30 p.m. for lunch as well as at the Hamilton Homes Community Room with breakfast from 9-10 a.m. and lunch from 12:30-1:30 p.m.
