OSWEGO, NY – Dr. Casey McCaffrey, D.C., recently presented Katie Button with a check to support the March of Dimes at the March For Babies, which was held May 2.
The proceeds were the result of Chiropractic Appreciation Day on April 25.

At this time, patients were examined and adjusted for a donation to the March of Dimes of $20 at his office on 184 W. Fourth St.
Dr. McCaffrey said he selected the March of Dimes because of their “immeasurable contribution to at risk and pre-mature babies. They not only address emergent problems but do extensive research into the cause and prevention of birth defects and premature birth. The March of Dimes is ever present and offers many services to support the families of these babies.”
Less known, but equally significant, is the vast research the March of Dimes conducts on Post Polio Syndrome. Franklin D. Roosevelt initially started the March of Dimes to fight polio, but the focus shifted later to birth defects, when the Salk vaccine eradicated polio in the United States.
As the people who had polio aged, it was recognized that a significant number of people who contracted polio in the years it was epidemic have degenerative joint disease and skeletal deformities which result in a great deal of pain in their later years.
“As a chiropractor, musculo-skeletal specialist, I applaud the March of Dimes for undertaking this research,” McCaffrey said.
