OSWEGO — The Quirks Players Drama Club from G. Ray Bodley High School in Fulton recently presented a preview of Cinderella to a very receptive audience of residents of Springside at Seneca Hill. They will be performing the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical to the public on March 13 at 7:30, March 14 at 7:30, and March 15 at 2:00 and 7:30 at Bodley High School Auditorium, 6 William Gillard Drive, Fulton.
The play presents the familiar fairy tale of Cinderella with an impressive and entertaining array of lively singing and dancing.
Originally presented on television in 1957, starring Julie Andrews, Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella was the most widely viewed program in the history of television, drawing an astonishing 107 million viewers.
The high school students, complemented by a few from the middle and elementary school, were choreographed by Doreen Kelly, accompanied by Delores Walrath, under the respectful and capable instruction of music teacher Thomas Briggs.
Springside at Seneca Hill is an independent living residential neighborhood for seniors 55 or older who can take care of all their personal needs but who want to free themselves of the responsibilities of maintaining a house. Fully accessible apartments, duplexes, and cottages are available, along with a variety of services including prepared restaurant-style dinners served by trained staff in the formally appointed dining room where casual attire prevails, housekeeping, laundry, lawn care, snow removal, garages, and maintenance services, depending upon the options chosen. Most residents find it considerably less expensive and much less stress and work than maintaining a private house.
Information is available and tours of Springside may be arranged by calling 315-343-5658 to schedule an appointment.
