CLEVELAND – Join the Cleveland Historical Society for a free tour of the Wood family’s large farm museum on Thursday, June 4, at 6:30 p.m.
The museum is located at 770 County Route 17 in Bernhards Bay.
“The Wood family has farmed here for many years,” said Kathy Darrow, vice president of the Cleveland Historical Society. “Now, they are offering this tour to share a little history about our local farming heritage with the community.”
Neil Wood has assembled a display featuring many farm tools and items in the museum building.
They include egg washers, corn planters, hay forks, walk-behind plows, John Deere and Ford chainsaws, and other items dating back a century.
He will be on hand to answer questions and explain the items and their uses.
Dot Wood will also have a display featuring an old cook stove and vast collection of granite ware.
Among the displays will be a variety of advertising signs, including a large curtain that hung in the Grange Hall in Bernhards Bay.
It advertised many of the old businesses in the area.
Visitors will also see a working 100-year-old shingle mill as well as many vintage tractors on the property in this picturesque rural setting.
