FULTON – Getting the word out and increasing awareness are driving goals for CNY Arts Center as the new nonprofit organization works to revitalize the region through the arts.

The recent stained glass mural project completed during Harborfest is just one example of programs and works in progress for the group which opened a temporary facility in the State Street Methodist Church in Fulton July 1.
“We launched ARTY Day Camp and began classes in this first month and August is filling quickly. We’re starting a six week class in stained glass, one day classes in watercolor monotypes, botanical drawings, digital photo tools, and oil painting, hosting a one day stained glass workshop, a two day watercolor class for beginners, and stepping on to our brand new stage with the premiere of Godspell Aug. 17-26,” said Nancy Fox, president of the group. “We’re also hosting our second session of ARTY Day Camp Aug. 20-24. There is so much to do and we want everyone to get involved.”

“We were excited to participate in Showcase Oswego in West Park during Harborfest. It was a great opportunity for artists to show the community an intoxicating assortment of original art from pottery to fine paintings, fabric arts, jewelry, vintage recreations, up-cycled art, and more. Individual artists from around the county alongside Art Association of Oswego, Lakeside Artisans, Oswego Players, Firefly Studio, Lake County Quilt Guild and CNY Arts Center members were joined by an army of volunteers and festival attendees who pitched in to help with the mural. It was great to be a part of so many coming together as one cohesive art community,” Fox continued. “It symbolized our commitment at CNY Arts Center to all arts for all ages and we’re working to deliver on those promises. We finally have a facility with well qualified teachers, flexible class schedules and a variety of great classes and productions planned. We’re working really hard to be accessible and provide up to date information on all the activities on our web site. And we’re still meeting on Monday nights, now at the center, 6:30 at the Park Street entrance of State Street Methodist Church, 357 State St., Fulton.”
