Compass Federal Credit Union Awards Scholarships In Amount Of $13,000

OSWEGO – Compass Federal Credit Union is proud to announce the recipients of this year’s Compass Federal Credit Union Scholarship Awards, which have been presented to eight deserving students in the overall amount of $13,000.

In the past, Compass has presented two $4,000 scholarships to high school graduates, with one $1,000 Continuing Education Scholarship being awarded to a student already attending college or a trade school.

This year, the Compass Scholarship Committee added an additional five scholarships for high school graduates including one $2,000 scholarship and four $500 scholarships.

Oswego High School seniors, Jake Chetney and Megan DeLong, were selected as this year’s $4,000 scholarship recipients.

Chetney will study Physics & Engineering in the fall at R.I.T., Clarkson or R.P.I.

DeLong is set to attend SUNY Oswego, where she will major in Spanish.

Cecile Laundre Hernandez, who will soon attend Case Western Reserve University, was selected as this year’s $2,000 scholarship recipient.

Four more graduating seniors also earned $500 scholarships including Max Creamer, Victoria Crisafulli, Molly Fitzgibbons and Emily Porter.

Katie Smith, a nursing major at Nazareth College, is the 2020 recipient of the $1,000 Continuing Education Scholarship, as she furthers her post-secondary education in Western New York.

The application process for this year’s scholarships began in early January with applications due in May.  The Compass Scholarship Committee made this year’s selections from a talented pool of more than 20 applicants.
