County Highway Department Busy with Several Paving Projects this Summer

OSWEGO COUNTY — Oswego County Highway Department crews plan to re-pave more than 63 miles of county roads and replace four bridges this summer.

County Highway Superintendent Kurt Ospelt said many of these projects were postponed from last year due to the high cost of fuel and asphalt during the summer of 2008. The list of paving projects may be adjusted as the season progresses.

The following projects are scheduled:

· Albion: County Route 22 from County Route 48 to State Route 13.
· Amboy: County Route 23 from County Route 65 to .3 mile north.
· Boylston: County Route 13 from County Route 50 to Center Road.
· Constantia: County Route 23 from Knapp Road to Parker Road; County Route 65 to 1 mile west; County Route 23B from County Route 23 to town line.
· Granby: County Route 8 from State Route 3 to Minetto town line.
· Mexico: County Route 41 from Spath Road north for 1.8 miles; County Route 41 from State Route 104 to Minckler Road; County Route 58A from State Route 104 to County Route 58.
· New Haven: County Route 6 from State Route 104 to Stone Road.
· Orwell: County Route 22 from Quarry Road to Tubbs Road; County Route 2 from Richland town line to Dam Road (6.6 miles, various sections).
· Oswego Town: County Route 20 from County Route 25 to County Route 7.
· Palermo: County Route 4 from State Route 3 to Catfish Creek; County Route 35 from State Route 3 to+ County Route 4.
· Parish: County Route 11 from Voorhees Road to Slosson Road.
· Redfield: County Route 17 from Harvester Mills Road to Otto Mills Drive; County Route 39 from County Route 27 to Ryan Road; County Route 27 from Clark Drive to County Route 17.
· Richland: County Route 2A from State Route 13 to County Route 2; County Route 41 from State Route 11 to railroad tracks; County Route 28 from North Fernwood Road to County Route 41.
· Sandy Creek: County Route 15 from U.S. Route 11 to County Route 22; County Route 15 from State Route 3 to County Route 62.
· Schroeppel: County Route 33 from County Route 12 to State Route 49.
· Scriba: County Route 4 from County Route 53 to Churchill Road; County Route 53 from County Route 4 to Dutch Ridge Road; County Route 53 from State Route 104 to County Route 4; County Route 1 from City Line Road to County Route 1A; County Route 1A from Ricor Beach Road to Lakeview Road; and County Route 63 from State Route 104 to County Route 1.
· Volney: County Route 45 from County Route 53 and County Route 57; County Route 45, .8 mile west of County Route 6; County Route 45 from County Route 176 to Distin Road, County Route 45 from County Route 53 to Distin Road; and County Route 176 from Rowlee Road to Black Creek Road.
· West Monroe: County Route 23B from town line to County Route 26.
The highway department plans to replace four bridges:
· Schroeppel: Sutton Road bridge over Fish Creek and County Route 54 bridge over Six Mile Creek.
· Mexico: Countryman Road bridge over Sage Creek.
· Orwell: County Route 2 bridge over Trout Brook.

Ospelt reminds motorists to be alert for lane changes, obey posted speed limits, and follow posted instructions in all construction zones.
