Once students arrived at the high school, they learned their words had been transformed by Merry Go-Round Playhouse members into performance pieces of skits and songs complete with costumes and props.

Echoes was developed by the playhouse to encourage students to creatively write.

Students Kendra Gardner, Alley Bliss and Lilia Place received a Showcase Authors honor and their creative piece “The New Kid,” about a new kid in school who was a banana, was performed on stage.

Playhouse actors recognized the following honorable mention work authored by students: “Snow” by Rosline Knoblock, “Space Shooters” by Asa Finch and “Stuck by EvaLynn Dickens.

The students also received recognition and applause during a recent Morning Express program at Fairgrieve.

Sixth grade teacher John Mercer commended all Fairgrieve sixth graders who put forth effort and creativity to submit their writing to the contest.

“We’re all proud of them,” he said. missing or outdated ad config
