CYO Co-Ed Basketball League Registration Under Way

FULTON, NY – Catholic Charities of Oswego County invites students in grades 7 through 12 to register for participation in the 2009-10 Fulton CYO Co-Ed Basketball League.

This fun, spirited league provides all students with the opportunity to compete at a challenging level.

CYO Coordinator Jim Smiley states that the emphasis is on the students enjoying the game and developing their basketball skills.

“The CYO league encourages participation by all the students. Everyone has the chance to play, regardless of his or her current skill level,” he said. “It’s great to watch their playing ability improve as the season progresses.”

Students may register at the Fulton CYO, 365 W. First St.

All students who register will be invited to attend the organizational meeting to be held Nov. 17 at 6 p.m.

League play will begin on Dec. 3 with scrimmage games tentatively scheduled for Nov. 17 and 19.

There is no registration fee to participate in the Fulton CYO CO-Ed Basketball League and the league is open to both boys and girls in grades 7 through 12.

The league is also in need of volunteers to serve as referees, scorekeepers and timekeepers.

Anyone interested in playing or volunteering should call Smiley at 598-3980 for more information.

The CYO program is funded in part by the NYS Office of Children and Family Services through the Oswego City / County Youth Bureau.
