Fulton, NY – Oswego County Opportunities (OCO) Nutrition Services was the recipient of Davis-Standard’s monthly employee charitable donation. Employees raised money through their in-house “New to You” project.
“Each month our employees hold a fundraiser to benefit local charities,” said HR Generalist Tammy Salm. “We contributed $500 in gasoline gift cards for OCO’s Home Delivered Meals’ volunteer drivers. With my father being a former driver, and my mother a former recipient, I’m well aware of how important OCO’s Home Delivered Meal program is to our community. We at Davis-Standard are happy to support charities in our area and look forward to it each month. OCO is an amazing organization. Its programs are all encompassing and provide valuable assistance to those of all ages. In the future we will be holding an employee fundraiser for OCO’s SAF House.”
OCO’s Home Delivered Meals program delivers more than 1,000 meals each day to homebound seniors and serves all areas in the county. OCO’s Nutrition Services programs are partially supported by grants from our partners: The Oswego County Office for the Aging, the NY State Office for the Aging and the United Way of Greater Oswego, Inc.
“This generous donation will be a welcomed surprise for our volunteer drivers,” said Coordinator of Nutrition Services Lori Halstead. “In many ways our drivers serve as a lifeline to homebound and socially isolated seniors. The Home Delivered Meals program provides much more than a meal; it provides peace of mind that enables our participants to remain safe and secure in their own homes as they continue to age.”
